Good Corn

There was a Nebraska farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon...
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.
"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves. So it is in other dimensions. Those who choose to be at peace must help their neighbors to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: If we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

PRIORITY IN LIVING

The priority in living is not to live under the glamours of what others do for themselves, but what you can do best to live your God given human life.
You don't actually have to answer the quiz in A and B but read through it to grab the meaning behind raising the query. Just read the entire article to get the point.

[A] Glamorous but worthless
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss World contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
5. Name the last six years' Academy Award winners for best performances and movies.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

Well, How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields, but
· The applause dies
· The Awards tarnish
· The Achievements are forgotten
The Accolades, trophies, plaques and certificates are buried with their owners. Old gets forgotten. Newer takes its place. Newer gets older. So what is to you?

[B] Ordinary but Priceless
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers, who guided your journey through school and education process.
2. Name three friends who stood by you through difficult periods of your life.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you to live your life.
How did you do on this one: Find it comfortable?

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most glamour, most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that you are close to and those who care for you and for whom you care.
The real glamour is one in your heart for the people who touch you and to whom you touch. Someone under that remote limelight means little.

BIG GOD

Two men went fishing. One was an experienced fisherman, the other wasn't.
Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it in his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman caught a big fish, he threw it back.

The experienced fisherman watched this go on all day and finally got tired of seeing the man waste good fish. "Why do you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch?"he asked.

The inexperienced fisherman replied, "I only have a small frying pan."

Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throwback the big plans, big dreams, big jobs, big opportunities that God gives us. Our faith is too small.

We laugh at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was a bigger frying pan, yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith?

Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give you anything bigger than you can handle. That means we can confidently walk into anything God brings our way.

You can do all things through God. Nothing is too big for God.

REMEMBER:
Stop telling God you've got big problems. Tell your problems you've got a BIG GOD!

Never Doubt Yourself

I am sure you must have heard of " Law of attraction". It goes like, what you think the most is what you get the most. If on a particular day, you are getting late for the office and you wish you don't want Red traffic signal, Red is what you will get the most. Because, you have thought of Red signal instead of thinking about the Green signal - what you actually want.

Law of attraction is very simple. Ask, believe and receive.

We must be clear about what we want in our life, and then we should only think & visualize about the same without any doubt. When we see a big dream, let's say about a big bungalow, a big car, fat salary job etc., we start attracting the same in our life. But then, we start doubting our-self, whether we will achieve it or not. And then, we start making our dream small, bungalow turns into a flat, big car into a small car, fat salary into a 15% hike. Finally, we get what we wished for.

Always remember: A small doubt kills a big dream.

The Wishing Tree:

There is a parable about a poor man walking through the woods reflecting upon his many troubles. He stopped to rest against a tree, a magical tree that would instantly grant the wishes of anyone who came in
contact with it.
He realized he was thirsty and wished for a drink. Instantly a cup of cool water was in his hand. Shocked, he looked at the water, he decided it was safe and drank it.
He then realized he was hungry and wished he had something to eat. A meal appeared before him. "My wishes are being granted," he thought in disbelief.

"Well, then I wish for a beautiful home of my own," he said out loud. The home appeared in the meadow before him. A huge smile crossed his face as he wished for servants to take care of the house. When they appeared he realized he had somehow been blessed with an incredible power and he wished for a beautiful, loving, intelligent woman to share his good fortune.

"Wait a minute, this is ridiculous," said the man to the woman. "I'm not this lucky. This can't happen to me."
As he spoke...everything disappeared.

He shook his head and said, "I knew it," then walked away thinking  about his many troubles.
